The brief
Programme teams collect a lot of data and then spend the last week of every quarter copying it into tables for the donor report. By the time the report is ready, it is too late to act on what it shows.
This demonstration uses a fictional water and sanitation programme with field officers in two counties, a logframe with twelve indicators and a donor who wants quarterly reports.
What we built
Field officers collect data on their phones with KoboToolbox, even without signal. Power Query pulls the exports into one clean table, fixes spelling of locations, removes duplicates and flags records that need checking.
A one-page dashboard shows each indicator against its target, by county and by quarter. The same numbers fill a Word donor report template, so the narrative and the figures always agree.
One clean dataset
Duplicates, misspelt villages and impossible values are fixed or flagged on every refresh.
Indicators against targets
Every logframe indicator shows progress, target and a red, amber or green status.
County view
Filter the whole dashboard by county, site or quarter in one click.
Donor report template
Tables and charts in the Word template update from the same data.
Disaggregation
Results split by sex, age group and disability where the logframe asks for it.
Protected data
Personal data stays in the source file; the dashboard shows only totals.
